The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs, equipped with the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards, is now available for purchase. Leading retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have launched their listings today, offering gamers a golden window to secure these advanced systems. If you're in the market for a complete setup featuring the latest generation GPUs, now is your prime chance—until major OEMs like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) unveil their models later in the first quarter.
However, if your interest lies in standalone GPUs rather than prebuilt systems, you'll want to explore our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find the best retailers. Be warned: the initial stock of these GPUs is likely to vanish within hours, or even minutes, due to high demand and the prevalence of bots snatching them up for resale at inflated prices. Retailers have already signaled potential inventory shortages, echoing the challenges seen in previous Nvidia GPU launches.

Dell has just unveiled its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. With only two configurations available, both powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a hefty price of $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery; Dell estimates that the system will arrive by April 22.
Dell introduced the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The design closely resembles the 2024 R16 model but features subtle aesthetic and cooling updates, alongside refreshed internal components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Instead, air intakes are situated at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that typically results in a less dusty interior. The system also boasts a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more robust power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

For those seeking a customized experience, several boutique retailers are now offering built-to-order systems featuring RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs. Brands like iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm have updated their configurators to include these new RTX 50-series options. Keep in mind, though, that these custom systems can come at a premium and might not be the most cost-effective choice.
The big names in the OEM world, Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo, are set to release their prebuilt gaming PCs with the RTX 50-series GPUs later this year. Dell showcased the Alienware Area 51 at CES 2025, expected to feature Nvidia's latest GPUs with a launch anticipated in the first quarter. HP plans to equip its flagship Omen 45L with the RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs, possibly in mid to late February. Lenovo has not yet disclosed when it will integrate these new GPUs into its Legion Tower gaming desktops, leaving us without a specific launch date.
Nvidia officially unveiled its 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, emphasizing advanced AI features alongside modest hardware-based raster performance improvements. The new DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. Our reviews delve into the performance of these new GPUs.
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas notes, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offers a similar perspective, stating, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 doesn’t make a lot of sense – it just doesn’t have much of a performance lead over the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do make things look better in games that support it. However, for gamers with an older graphics card who want a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 absolutely provides – doubly so if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI goodies."
