Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51

Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed strong interest in a Killer7 sequel during a presentation alongside its creator, Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This sparked excitement among fans of the cult classic action-adventure game.

Killer7: A Sequel or a Complete Edition?

The Grasshopper Direct presentation, primarily focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, unexpectedly veered into Killer7 territory. Mikami declared his desire for a sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, mirroring Mikami's enthusiasm, hinted at a potential sequel, playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."

Killer7, a 2005 GameCube and PlayStation 2 release, is known for its unique blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. While a sequel has remained elusive, even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" to fully realize his original vision. Mikami jokingly dismissed this as "lame," but the discussion revealed that the original concept included significantly more dialogue for the character Coyote, a potential addition for a Complete Edition.

The possibility of both a sequel and a complete edition has energized fans. Although no firm commitments were made, the creators' shared enthusiasm is enough to fuel anticipation for the future of Killer7. The final decision, according to Suda51, rests on whether "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition takes priority.
