Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin Design Unveiled

by Zoey May 22,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its latest flagship smartphone. While the Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the earlier-released Galaxy S25 from 2025, its thinner design sets it apart, truly giving it an Edge.

Comparing the Galaxy S25 Edge to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the specifications are nearly identical. Both phones utilize the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a 200MP camera. The key difference lies in the chassis; the Galaxy S25 Edge is slimmer at just 5.8mm thick compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner design also results in a lighter weight, tipping the scales at only 163g.

Despite the thinner profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its large size and thin build, durability is a significant concern for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung claims to have mitigated this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against bending, especially when subjected to pressure in a pocket. Will it avoid a new "bendgate" scenario?

The Galaxy S25 Edge also incorporates the same "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 last year, with further enhancements made in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables substantial AI processing on the device, enhancing privacy by reducing reliance on cloud services. Nonetheless, many AI applications still require cloud support. Samsung's unique features, such as summarizing notifications and news articles at a glance, add a layer of convenience for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The phone is available in three attractive color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen on promoting the Galaxy S25 Edge's durability despite its slim design. Let's hope their claims hold up in real-world use.
