Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent years, and fans are keen to experience it firsthand. The long wait might finally be over as Silksong will feature a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new playable version of Silksong promises to be a significant evolution from the demo showcased at E3 in 2019, which was primarily viewed as a "proof of concept."

ACMI is set to host a video game exhibition called Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. The exhibit will spotlight several titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the Australian-developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. These games will be presented with exclusive custom builds, alongside original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects.

In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their enthusiasm about featuring Silksong in their upcoming exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."

Since its announcement in 2019, details about Silksong have been scarce, leaving fans to rely on rumors and speculation about its release date and other aspects. ACMI aims to quench this thirst for information with its Game Worlds exhibit.

The ACMI co-curators elaborated on what visitors can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."

While the Australian event hints at a possible launch window for Silksong, no official announcements have confirmed the game’s release date. Silksong briefly appeared during the Switch 2 Direct last month, confirming a release window of 2025. Given that the exhibit extends into 2026, hopeful players are crossing their fingers for a release sometime in September or within the exhibit's duration.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our article below!
