Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable as of January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, offering a glimmer of hope for nostalgic PS5 owners.
In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic reception of these themes, stating that they are working to bring these designs back.

Despite this positive news, Sony also announced that no further themes are currently planned for the PS5. This announcement has disappointed many fans who have long awaited theme customization options on the PS5, a feature present in previous PlayStation iterations.
The temporary themes offered a nostalgic trip down memory lane, transforming the PS5 home screen and menus to reflect the aesthetic of each classic console. The PSOne theme featured the original console's image, the PS2 theme incorporated its distinctive menu design, the PS3 theme recreated its wave-like background, and the PS4 theme mirrored its predecessor's wave patterns. Each theme also included the corresponding console's iconic boot-up sounds. These themes were released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024.
