by Blake May 22,2025

The mobile gaming phenomenon Monopoly Go is set to inject a dose of sci-fi excitement into its classic real estate gameplay through an exciting partnership with Star Wars. Announced at the Star Wars Celebration in Japan, this collaboration will run from May 1 to July 2, drawing inspiration from iconic moments in the Skywalker Saga and the adventures of The Mandalorian.

During the Star Wars-themed season, players will enjoy seeing their favorite Star Wars characters, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, R2D2, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and Qui-Gon Jinn, in adorable cartoon form. The season introduces a Star Wars Go sticker album for players to collect, the thrill of podracing at the Mos Espa Grand Arena, and a variety of in-game collectibles such as tokens, shields, and emojis. It's a unique blend that lets these iconic characters mingle with the legendary Mr. Monopoly, also known as Rich Uncle Pennybags.

This isn't the first time Monopoly Go has embraced a crossover event. Last September, the game featured a collaboration with Marvel, where characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and members of the Avengers joined the Monopoly universe.

In other news, Scopely, the publisher behind Monopoly Go, recently expanded its portfolio by acquiring the teams behind Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now from Niantic, signaling a significant move in the mobile gaming industry.

According to a report from our sister site GamesIndustry.biz, Monopoly Go topped the charts for consumer spending in 2024, amassing an impressive $2.47 billion. This financial success, combined with 150 million downloads and 10 million daily users in 2024, underscores the game's dominant position in the mobile gaming market.
