TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with art by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza, promises a thrilling climax:

The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery and climactic conclusion! New York City erupts in all-out war, leaving no one safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are caught in the crossfire. Will they survive? Their fate rests in the hands of legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as this chapter of The Last Ronin concludes!

Reflecting on the new generation of Turtles, Eastman shared in a 2024 interview with IGN: "We wanted to update the characters. There are two male and two female Turtle characters, and Tom and I worked to capture the thoughts, speech, and actions of teenagers. There's a great mix of personalities, much like the original Turtles. We wanted them to love their family, but not always like them. They argue, disagree, and have spats, but when they need to work together, the heart of their family always unites them. That foundation remains core to everything we do with the Turtles."
