Ubisoft Unveils Customization and Progression in Assassin's Creed: Shadows

Ubisoft has unveiled exciting new details about the gameplay features of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, with a special focus on the equipment and progression systems for the game's protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. A highlight that fans are sure to love is the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade, which promises to be a game-changer in stealth and combat scenarios.

Both Yasuke and Naoe will have unique skill trees designed to complement their distinct combat styles. Yasuke, the samurai, will have access to a range of techniques that emphasize strength and honor, while Naoe, the shinobi, will focus on stealth and agility. Players can allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities or refine their fighting techniques. These points are earned by completing various open-world objectives or by defeating formidable enemies, such as the elite Daisyo samurai.

To maintain balanced progression, both characters will develop at an even pace, ensuring neither falls behind. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific in-game actions, like tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Additionally, progression is linked to the "Knowledge" scale, which players can advance by studying ancient manuscripts or praying at sacred shrines. Reaching the sixth rank of Knowledge unlocks an entirely new skill tree, adding depth to the gameplay experience.

Ubisoft also highlighted the game's equipment system, which features items categorized into five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade their gear at a blacksmith and customize its appearance to suit their style. Special perks on armor and weapons can significantly alter gameplay dynamics, offering strategic advantages in combat.

The Hidden Blade remains a central element, now capable of delivering instant kills with a single, precise strike. This feature is set to enhance the thrill of stealth missions and assassinations.
