The much-anticipated Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has encountered yet another delay, with its new release date set for October 2025. This latest postponement, revealed in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, shifts the release a few months beyond the previously planned first half of 2025. However, this delay comes with reassurances that the core development of the game is complete.
According to Executive Producer Marco Behrmann, "The status of the game right now is that the game is done. We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases." This news offers a silver lining to the extended wait, as the team is dedicated to polishing the game to ensure a high-quality launch.
Despite the disappointment of another delay, the update video also shared some positive developments. The Chinese Room has enhanced the game with additional content, deeper narratives, and further character development since the last major update. Notably, the character Fabien will have an "evolved role" in the storyline, adding to the anticipation for the game's narrative experience. However, fans should note that updates on the game's progress will become less frequent, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
The journey of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been fraught with challenges since its announcement in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs, initially targeting a Q1 2020 release. The game faced multiple delays, including a shift to late 2020, then to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. A significant change occurred in 2023 when Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, with the latest delay, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
While there remains uncertainty about whether Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will finally captivate players this fall, The Chinese Room expresses confidence in their current progress. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, "someone else" might take on the development of a potential Bloodlines 3.
