According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came after concerns arose that the content did not justify the price being considered. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.
This move comes as Warner Bros. continues to restructure its gaming division amid financial challenges. The company has already canceled a Wonder Woman game earlier this year and closed the studios responsible for it, including Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and MultiVersus developer Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs occurred at Rocksteady just last September.
Despite the cancellation of the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. has emphasized the importance of the Harry Potter franchise and Hogwarts Legacy within its portfolio. The company has stated that a sequel to the game is a top priority as it shifts focus to fewer but larger franchises. Hogwarts Legacy has been a significant success, selling over 30 million copies.
