It's been a while since we last discussed Ubisoft, and now, next Thursday, the company is set to release Assassin's Creed Shadows. The performance of this game could very well shape the future of the entire corporation, making it a critical launch for Ubisoft.
Today, Ubisoft's official channel released a new video dedicated to the game. You might expect this to be the launch trailer, but it's actually labeled as a TV commercial, which sparks some curiosity. The video itself isn't bad; it's smooth, cinematic, and visually impressive. However, the concern arises from Ubisoft's apparent focus on traditional media for promotion. While there's nothing wrong with that approach, uploading a TV ad to their YouTube channel feels a bit off. This method might not inspire the utmost confidence in the game's release, but perhaps it's just nitpicking.
Moving beyond speculation, the video effectively highlights the distinct gameplay and combat styles of the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is stunning, yet it's important to remember that you can't fully judge a game from a one-minute cinematic. We'll have to wait until the release to see the full picture.
