With the unveiling of the Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 and a significant update to its official website, the gaming community has been abuzz about the launch platforms and the newly announced release date of May 26, 2026. At the trailer's conclusion, the release date was prominently displayed alongside logos for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, confirming that these consoles will be the initial platforms for GTA 6. Notably, the trailer was captured on a PS5, specifically mentioned as such, distinguishing it from the PS5 Pro.

Rockstar's approach to not mentioning PC aligns with its historical strategy for previous titles, yet in today's gaming landscape, especially by 2025 and into 2026, this practice might feel somewhat outdated. Given the growing importance of the PC market for the success of multiplatform games, the omission of a PC release at launch could be viewed as a missed opportunity or even a strategic misstep.

In a February interview with IGN, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted at GTA 6's eventual arrival on PC. He referenced the simultaneous launch of Civilization 7 across various platforms but noted that Rockstar's approach often involves staggered releases. Zelnick's comments suggest that while a PC version of GTA 6 is on the horizon, it might not coincide with the console release.

GTA 6 is still set to launch exclusively on consoles initially. The gaming community has long noted Rockstar's hesitance to release games on PC simultaneously with console versions, as well as its complex relationship with the modding community.
