Earlier this year, Dell gave the legendary Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs a fresh start, but until recently, you could only equip it with one GPU option—the RTX 5080. Those days are over. Now, you have the option to configure your PC with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, currently the most powerful graphics card available on the market. And here’s even better news: one of the two preconfigured systems is on sale right now.

This Alienware Area-51 gaming PC drops to $4,999.99 after a $500 instant discount. It comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and 2TB SSD storage. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel’s latest flagship CPU, offering exceptional performance for both gaming and professional tasks. Although it doesn’t quite match the i9-14900K in terms of performance, it remains one of Intel’s best all-around processors. Cooling is handled by a massive 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler, while the system runs on a 1,500W Platinum-rated power supply.
Dell debuted the updated Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. While it retains a familiar design, the chassis features aesthetic and cooling improvements alongside updated internal components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top rather than the front, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel instead of just a small section. This change eliminates the side panel vents, replacing them with air intakes at the bottom and front of the case. Alienware has shifted toward a positive airflow design, reducing dust accumulation inside the PC. Upgrades include a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more robust power supply to handle the demands of modern CPUs and GPUs.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer-grade graphics card on the market. Despite Nvidia’s focus on enhancing software, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 technology, the 5090 delivers a significant 25%-30% increase in pure hardware-based raster performance compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4090. Additionally, the 5090 boasts 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM, compared to the 4090’s 24GB GDDR6 VRAM. Finding this GPU at retail prices is nearly impossible, with current listings on eBay ranging from $3,500 to $4,000.
“The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, though not quite with the same dramatic leap as previous generations. In traditional non-AI gaming scenarios, the RTX 5090 shows a modest generational improvement. However, when DLSS 4 is enabled in compatible titles, it delivers substantial performance gains. Just remember, 75% of the frames are AI-generated.”
