The e-commerce giant just revealed that Prime Day 2025 will span four full days from July 8-11, marking its longest duration since the annual shopping extravaganza began ten years ago. What started as a brief 24-hour flash sale has gradually extended over time - first to two days, and now its biggest expansion yet.
This retail phenomenon continues ranking just behind Black Friday in sheer shopping volume and consumer enthusiasm. The extended 96-hour format gives Prime members more flexibility to hunt for bargains across Amazon's massive inventory.
Like previous editions, these Prime Day exclusives require an active Prime membership, with most discounts vanishing until November's holiday sales.
Standard Prime membership in the U.S. runs $14.99 monthly or $139 annually, with new users qualifying for a 30-day free trial. However, younger shoppers can unlock even sweeter membership perks.
The "Amazon Prime for Young Adults" program delivers identical benefits - lightning-fast shipping, Prime Video access - plus exclusive advantages like daily 5% tech cashback (jumping to 10% during Prime Day) and waived Grubhub delivery fees.
This youth-focused version kicks off with a six-month complimentary trial, then slashes standard pricing in half ($7.49/month or $69/year) until members turn 25 - or until their knees start protesting when they crouch down to check those Prime Day doorbuster deals.
Several tantalizing offers have already gone live ahead of the official event. For audiobook enthusiasts, Audible Premium Plus membership drops to just $0.99/month for three months for newcomers - a staggering 93% discount off the usual $14.95 monthly rate.
Starting June 17 at 9 AM PT, Prime members can claim six bonus PC games including Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, two Saints Row titles, and Star Wars: Rebellion among others.
Current standout deals include the AirPods Pro 2 hitting their 2025 low of $169, significant savings on Magic: The Gathering booster boxes, and nearly $50 off a "Like New" PlayStation Portal.
While unconfirmed, mounting evidence suggests Amazon may finally stock the elusive Switch 2 console during Prime Day. The retailer recently cleaned up third-party seller listings and restored an "Currently unavailable" placeholder for the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle.
With Amazon resuming sales of first-party Switch 2 games, industry watchers speculate the company might limit console availability to Prime members during the event - potentially offering early access to one of this year's most coveted gaming devices.
This year's Prime Day directly follows July 4th weekend sales, creating an unusual back-to-back discount bonanza. While Independence Day typically brings strong tech deals from major retailers, Amazon's four-day event tends to feature broader and deeper discounts on its ecosystem products and partner brands.
Shoppers might benefit from comparing both sales periods, as retailers could engage in aggressive price competition to capture attention before Prime Day kicks off.
