AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT: Officially Confirmed

by Henry May 25,2025

AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, following the success of the RX 9070 XT from March. However, Team Red remains tight-lipped about the details of this new mid-range graphics card.

The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and 16GB of GDDR6 memory, a robust specification for a card aimed at 1080p gaming. Given its smaller size, it's no surprise that it consumes less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and roughly half the power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be significantly less powerful but hopefully more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has yet to disclose any pricing or release date for this upcoming graphics card.

The Budget Battles Have Begun

While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's likely to be competitively priced against the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060, both of which have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and were released for around $250-$300. AMD is expected to target the same market segment.

When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT finally hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT remains within this price bracket, it will stand out as the only GPU in its class with 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.

I'll need to test it in the lab to assess its real-world performance, but if the GPU matches its competitors in strength, the larger frame buffer could ensure it remains viable longer as games increasingly demand more video memory. While the exact cost of the RX 9060 XT remains uncertain, it's shaping up to be a key contender in the budget GPU market.
