Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide
The game Dynasty Warriors: Origins repeatedly warns against engaging Lu Bu, proclaiming him the ultimate warrior. However, defeating him yields significant rewards, including bragging rights, story progression (if siding with Shu or Wei in Chapter 4's Battle of Xiapi), a trophy ("The Strongest"), and the game's final weapon, the halberd (in post-game). This guide details how to overcome this formidable opponent.
Preparation is Key:
Before the battle, optimize your equipment. A multi-hit sword to stagger Lu Bu is essential, along with Battle Arts that are quick, wide-ranging, and don't consume excessive Bravery. Consider using Battle Arts such as Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, and Flying Dragon Slash. Accessories boosting health and defense, like Divine Bird's Wing and Divine Turtle's Shell, are crucial due to Lu Bu's high damage output. A weapon granting Bravery on Perfect Evades is highly advantageous.
Phase 1: Mounted Mayhem:
Initially, Lu Bu rides Red Hare. This phase involves dodging his charges. He's fast but pauses occasionally. Exploit these pauses to unleash Battle Arts, then retreat. His attacks generally have limited area of effect (AOE), except for Red Hare's aerial jump attack, making evasion relatively manageable. Once Lu Bu's health reaches 80%, he dismounts, escalating the challenge.
Phase 2: Unmounted Onslaught:
On foot, Lu Bu is relentless. His attacks are swift, and he frequently moves rapidly across the battlefield, sometimes with a red aura indicating invulnerability to stuns. Evade his charges (he typically charges in sets of three). His grab attack, while devastating, is also easily dodged.
His most dangerous move involves an orange glow, followed by three powerful ranged arrow volleys. Counter this with a ranged Battle Art like Absconding Slash. Close-range Battle Arts are ineffective against this attack. Keep your Musou gauge charged for invincibility in emergencies. This phase is surprisingly conducive to juggling Lu Bu, allowing for rapid Battle Art charging and Fortitude meter depletion. Maintain close proximity for better reaction time to his attacks.
Phase 3: Musou Rage:
Upon reaching a certain health threshold, Lu Bu enters Musou Rage, becoming unstaggerable and unleashing a relentless barrage of attacks. The objective here is to deplete his Fortitude before he executes his Musou attack. Utilize all remaining resources: Musou attacks, Battle Arts, and rapid, powerful strikes. Failing to break his Fortitude before his Musou attack will force a repetition of this phase.
Victory:
By strategically employing these tactics, you can defeat Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
