REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO, as the developers at Semiwork plan to refine the game's difficulty scaling and introduce new mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details about the upcoming Overcharge mechanic overhaul and discover what the team has been working on during the open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

REPO recently concluded an open beta phase for its upcoming update, gathering crucial player feedback. One highlight was the Overcharge mechanic, which caught the attention of developer Semiwork.

Overcharge empowers players to counter enemies by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this action isn't without limits; an overcharge meter fills up, and if it reaches its peak, the player will explode.

Originally available from the outset, the developers have decided to unlock Overcharge at level 10. Moreover, they intend to roll out new difficulty-enhancing mechanics every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and so on), with Overcharge serving as the inaugural challenge in this series.

These new mechanics will be deeply integrated with the game's lore, as Semiwork explains, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking

During the open beta, Semiwork developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, joined random matches to engage with players and gather insights on potential improvements. Sundstrom expressed his delight in seeing players enjoy the new additions, saying, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the invaluable feedback from the community, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates in the future, as the developers have promised to share further developments soon. Stay updated with the latest on R.E.P.O. by checking out our article below!
