While Split Fiction offers a primarily linear co-op adventure, players will discover numerous opportunities to explore optional Side Stories throughout their journey. Though technically non-essential, these detours feature some of the game's most memorable moments.
Between Chapters 2 through 5, players can uncover 12 unique Side Stories - three in each chapter. These hidden gems include hilarious scenarios like transforming into pigs or competing in a deadly game show. Completionists should note there's an achievement tied to finding all Side Stories, making exploration particularly rewarding.
Legend of the Sandfish - Unmissable during Chapter 2 after completing Rush Hour
Farmlife - Located in Streets of Neon section after vaulting a small barrier
Mountain Hike - Found near Port-A-Pottys in Big City Life section (requires character cooperation)
Train Heist - Requires wall-running during Lord Evergreen water section
Gameshow - Found post side-scrolling section in Walking Sticks of Doom
Collapsing Star - Impossible to miss during main progression through Halls of Ice
Kites - Located at the end of Toxic Tumblers tube section
Moon Market - Requires platforming after crane sequence in Test Chamber
Notebook - Last Side Story in Soaring Desperados (watch for giant wheel)
Slopes of War - Accessed via lever puzzle in Water Temple
Space Escape - Requires coordinated movement in Craft Temple
Birthday Cake - Reward for solving soul puzzle in Treasure Temple
Successfully completing all twelve Side Stories unlocks the Bookworms achievement in Split Fiction.
