A Decade in the Making

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, marked by delays spanning nearly a decade. Initially conceived in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further complicating matters, the original design clashed with the company's shift towards live-service games, leading to a complete development halt.

The project was resurrected in 2018 under the codename "Morrison" and finally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
