Civilization VII's "Crossroads of the World" DLC: A Look at the Upcoming Content
Even before the official release of Civ VII, Firaxis Games has announced the "Crossroads of the World" DLC, featuring new civilizations, leaders, and natural wonders. This expansion, included with the Deluxe and Founders' Editions, will be released in two parts in early and late March 2025.
The first release in early March will introduce Ada Lovelace (Great Britain), Carthage, and four new natural wonders. The second release, later in March, will add Simón Bolívar (leading either Nepal or Bulgaria), and the remaining civilization (either Nepal or Bulgaria).
While specific details are scarce, we can make some educated predictions based on historical context:
Ada Lovelace (Great Britain): Given her pioneering work in computer programming, she'll likely be a science-focused leader with bonuses related to Codex and Specialist mechanics. Her abilities might synergize with Great Britain's anticipated focus on scientific and industrial advancements.
Simón Bolívar (Nepal or Bulgaria): Known as "The Liberator of America," Bolívar will probably be a militaristic/expansionist leader, leveraging the new Commanders mechanic. His bonuses might focus on logistical advantages and military movement.
Carthage: Considering its historical role as a major trading hub, Carthage might focus on Trade Route capacity and cultural bonuses from international trade, potentially with a synergy with the Colossus wonder.
Great Britain: As a mainstay in the Civilization series, Great Britain will likely emphasize naval production, trade, and potentially receive production boosts from institutions like Oxford University.
Nepal: Its location in the Himalayas suggests a civilization specializing in military and cultural advantages, possibly with units benefiting from mountainous terrain.
Bulgaria: Given its location at the crossroads of Europe, Bulgaria's gameplay might emphasize military and economic strengths, potentially focusing on cavalry and social policies.
Natural Wonders: The DLC will include four new natural wonders, which, following Civ 7's design, will likely provide additional tile yields rather than unique gameplay bonuses.
