Fortnite Relaunches on Apple App Store

by Aiden Sep 05,2025

Fortnite has triumphantly returned to Apple's U.S. App Store for iPhone and iPad users after a lengthy absence.

Epic Games couldn't contain their excitement, announcing the news via a celebratory post on X/Twitter. Mobile gamers who've been patiently waiting half a decade can finally dive back into the battle royale phenomenon. The iOS store listing mirrors its pre-2020 state, now proudly declaring "Fortnite is back!" in bold letters.

Fortnite is BACK on the App Store in the U.S. on iPhones and iPads... and on the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the E.U! It'll show up in Search soon!

U.S. players might still need some patience - while the store page is live, App Store searches may not immediately surface Fortnite. Epic assures everyone this glitch will resolve shortly. For the quickest access, this direct link skips the wait. European gamers get bonus options, with downloads available through both Epic Games Store and AltStore.

This homecoming concludes a bitter feud that began in August 2020 when Apple and Google pulled Fortnite after Epic bypassed platform fees with discounted V-Bucks and direct payments. What followed was a legal odyssey keeping Fortnite off mainstream mobile stores until a California federal court ruling cleared the way this April. Though Apple briefly threatened continued resistance, the verdict ultimately prevailed - ending mobile gamers' five-year drought.

The revived iOS version offers flexible V-Buck purchases. Opting for Epic's direct payment on the $22.99 (2,800 V-Bucks) package nets players a 20% rebate ($4.60) towards other Epic titles - a sweetener for bypassing Apple's ecosystem.

While players celebrate Fortnite's return, Epic faces new controversies. Their AI-powered Darth Vader collaboration produced unintended results when gamers manipulated the Sith Lord into profanity. Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA escalated tensions by filing labor charges against Epic just yesterday.
