Fortnite Switch 2 Specs: 60FPS, Higher Res, Mouse Support

by Christopher Apr 09,2026

Epic Games has announced the technical specs for Fortnite's upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version, confirming mouse support will arrive in the next major update.

The enhanced port will run at a buttery smooth 60FPS with upgraded resolutions - 2176x1224 when docked and 1600x900 in portable mode. The Switch 2's increased power enables impressive visual improvements including greater draw distances for those crucial long-range shots, plus enhanced clothing physics, higher-resolution textures, better shadows and improved water rendering.

New Features Coming to Switch 2

A much-requested replay feature finally makes its Nintendo debut, letting players review matches to see exactly how they were eliminated (and maybe learn from their mistakes). Unfortunately, the Save the World campaign mode remains unavailable on Nintendo platforms.

The version 37.00 update launching June 7 will add full mouse support across all major game modes (Battle Royale, Zero Build, Team Rumble and their variants). The mouse will function similarly to PC versions, replacing the right analog stick functionality while maintaining Joy-Con compatibility.

Special Launch Bonus

Players who jump into Fortnite on Switch 2 before March 31, 2026 will receive the exclusive "Wishing Star" emote - a playful nod to Kirby that lets characters grab and toss a shooting star. Could this hint at future Nintendo character collaborations?

Fortnite launches day-and-date with Switch 2's global release, currently featuring the climactic final days of the Star Wars: Galactic Battle season. This weekend will see a special live event where players can infiltrate the Death Star.

This announcement comes alongside Epic Games' recent discussions about AI integration in Unreal Engine and Fortnite, following the viral AI-powered Darth Vader character. Players can also look forward to checking out the recent Witcher 4 tech demo that's been making waves in the gaming community.
