Heroes of the Storm is bringing back the popular Heroes Brawl game mode, rebranded as "Brawl Mode," introducing a bi-weekly rotation of unique map challenges. This revival, nearly five years after the original mode's discontinuation, offers players a fresh take on classic and discontinued maps, each presenting distinct gameplay twists.
Initially launched in 2016 (as Arena Mode), Heroes Brawl featured weekly rotating maps with diverse objectives and rule sets. These ranged from all-Nova sniper duels to modified battlefields and PvE missions like Escape from Braxis. However, due to the rising preference for single-lane maps and maintenance complexities, it was replaced by ARAM in 2020.
Now, Brawl Mode is making a triumphant return on the Heroes of the Storm Public Test Realm (PTR), slated for official release within a month. Key differences include a bi-weekly rotation (1st and 15th of each month) and a special chest reward for completing three Brawl matches. The PTR currently features a holiday-themed Snow Brawl.
The upcoming patch notes detail the mode's return and include extensive hero balance adjustments and bug fixes. With a vast library of past Brawls, players can anticipate the return of many favorites, and potentially some exciting new additions. The timing coincides nicely with the game's 10th anniversary on June 2nd, 2025.

The specific balance changes and bug fixes are too extensive to fully reproduce here, but the patch notes provide a comprehensive list. Noteworthy general fixes include improved experience globe pathing, root visual effect adjustments, and updated slow effects to scale with CC reduction.
The return of Brawl Mode is a significant event for Heroes of the Storm fans, offering a nostalgic yet refreshed experience and potentially foreshadowing further positive developments for the game.
