Marvel Rivals Dev to Improve Strategist Gameplay Post-Strike

by Victoria Sep 28,2025

Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games has swiftly responded to player concerns about Strategist class balance issues following community protests.

The launch of Marvel Rivals Season 2 brought exciting new content including characters, maps, and gameplay modes. While these additions expanded the hero shooter's experience, unexpected balance issues have emerged - particularly for Strategists (Marvel Rivals' support class), who've found themselves overshadowed by increasingly powerful Vanguard and Duelist characters.

Which Marvel Rivals class do you use the most?

The weakened support role has sparked intense debate within the Marvel Rivals community since Season 2 launched. Strategist players report increasingly difficult matches, compounded by toxic behavior from teammates blaming them for losses. Tension reached its peak when hundreds organized a social media campaign pledging to boycott support roles until NetEase addressed balance issues.

"We're not asking for special treatment - just fair acknowledgment," shared one Reddit user. "It's demoralizing to be insulted constantly while performing your role exactly as intended."

Developer Response

NetEase has acknowledged the concerns through an official Dev Talk post, announcing a dual approach to improve Strategist viability: direct hero buffs and Competitive mode adjustments.

Upcoming changes will improve Strategist "threat levels" while reducing power for dominant Vanguards like Captain America and Groot. Specific adjustments remain under wraps, though Spider-Man's Amazing Combo ability will see reduced damage range.

"Our mid-season balance changes will be measured," NetEase stated. "We're prioritizing targeted improvements over meta upheaval, with broader adjustments planned for Season 2.5 alongside Ultron's release."

The studio also addressed Competitive mode imbalances where Duelists currently gain advantage in performance ratings. Revised calculations aim to create fairer comparisons across all hero types.

"Perfect balance remains elusive," developers noted, "but we're committed to continuous improvement based on community feedback."

Marvel Rivals Season 2 recently added Emma Frost as a new Vanguard, with Season 2.5 introducing Ultron soon. While players await these balancing changes, rumors swirl about potential swimsuit-themed cosmetic additions coming to the game.
