Batman: Arkham Knight Sequel's Bruce Wayne Concept Revealed

by Zoey Feb 20,2026

Concept art from a long-canceled Batman: Arkham Knight follow-up starring Damian Wayne as the Dark Knight has surfaced online, giving us our clearest look yet at an aged Bruce Wayne.

Codenamed "Project Sabbath," the game was in development at Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins, shortly after the 2015 release of Arkham Knight. It would have featured two Batmen—father and son.

Ultimately, Warner Bros. canceled the project. WB Games Montreal shifted focus and later released the poorly received Gotham Knights in 2022—a game without any version of Batman.

Sabbath was originally planned as Warner Bros.' next major Batman title, while Rocksteady explored concepts involving other characters. Rocksteady eventually returned to its version of Batman (in a way) with its next release, the ill-fated Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Artwork shared by a former WB Games Montreal artist who worked on the project has appeared on ArtStation, showing a youthful Damian Wayne, a grizzled and bearded Bruce Wayne, along with concept designs for Killer Croc and Huntress.

It was never confirmed whether this game would have fit within the established Arkhamverse canon. Some designs—particularly a drastically different Killer Croc—suggest it might have been a fresh interpretation. That said, Poison Ivy’s altered appearance in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn't break from continuity, and WB Games Montreal’s earlier title, Batman: Arkham Origins—a prequel—is considered part of the Arkham canon.

This isn’t the first time concept art from the canceled title has appeared online. Back in 2021, another former WB Games Montreal developer posted images of Damian Wayne in his Batsuit—a sleek design with a red Bat-Signal emblem on the chest.

Those earlier concepts also showed the same older, bearded Bruce Wayne, though he was only shown in his suit—obscuring his face. These designs imply that, at some point in the story, the retired Bruce would have suited up again.

After launching Gotham Knights and assisting Rocksteady with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, WB Games Montreal downsized in December 2024, resulting in nearly 100 job losses. Rocksteady’s co-op game featuring Batman’s allies ultimately underperformed, though the studio is now reportedly working on a new single-player Batman title.

Perhaps this new project will finally deliver the Bruce and Damian Wayne game fans have long awaited.
