Marvel Rivals to Reduce Memory Usage and Improve Stability With Experimental Feature

by Liam May 29,2025

With Season 2 just around the corner, *Marvel Rivals* is set to roll out exciting updates aimed at improving gameplay stability and user experience. Among the highlights is the introduction of a new experimental feature designed to optimize memory usage and enhance overall performance, particularly beneficial for players with lower RAM configurations.

Switch Shader Compilation Mode: A Performance Boost

In an effort to combat performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory consumption, *Marvel Rivals* will debut the Switch Shader Compilation Mode in Season 2. This experimental feature, accessible via the PC launcher, targets players with 16GB of RAM or less. By activating this mode, users can expect significant improvements such as:
  • A streamlined shader compilation process that runs only after a new game version or graphics driver update.
  • Reduced memory usage, leading to fewer instances of FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes related to memory shortages.

While the feature brings noticeable enhancements, players may encounter some initial glitches. For instance, materials may render abnormally for a few frames at the start of matches, though this typically resolves shortly after. Additionally, occasional stutters may occur, but they usually settle down during gameplay.

Twitch Drops Campaign Kicks Off

As part of Season 2, *Marvel Rivals* has launched a Twitch Drops campaign running from April 11 at 12:00 UTC until April 30 at 23:59 UTC. To participate, players need to link their Marvel Rivals account with Twitch and tune into eligible streams while enabling Drops. Rewards are tiered based on viewing duration, offering players incentives ranging from in-game items to exclusive content.

Season 2: Hellfire Gala Unveiled

The highly anticipated Season 2 introduces several new features and characters, including Emma Frost as a playable hero. Accompanying her arrival are two exclusive skins—X-Revolution and Blue Sapphire—and a brand-new Domination map titled "Hellfire Gala: Krakoa." Fans can also look forward to a refreshed Battle Pass featuring 10 distinct sets of heroic costumes.

Maintenance for this update is scheduled to begin on April 11 at 9:00 UTC and is expected to last between 2 to 3 hours. Keep an eye on official channels for further announcements and stay tuned for more details about Marvel Rivals Season 2.
