Marvel Rivals is launching a major Spring Festival event this Thursday! Players can snag a free Star-Lord costume and jump into a brand-new game mode: Clash of Dancing Lions. This 3v3 mode challenges teams to score a ball in their opponent's goal.
While the gameplay might evoke comparisons to Rocket League, it bears a closer resemblance to Overwatch's Lucioball—itself inspired by Rocket League. This is a noteworthy parallel, as Marvel Rivals is currently outpacing Overwatch in popularity and needs to establish a unique identity. Interestingly, its inaugural large-scale event features a game mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's first special event. The key difference lies in the thematic presentation: Overwatch's event had an Olympic Games theme, while Marvel Rivals' event boasts a distinctly Chinese New Year atmosphere.
