Nintendo Switch 2 Supports Joy-Con Mouse Navigation

by Julian Oct 14,2025

Nintendo confirms players can navigate the Switch 2 Home screen using Joy-Con mouse controls.

Since the Switch 2 announcement, gamers have wondered about the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Last month's confirmation revealed a "mouse mode" where sliding controllers on surfaces with analog stick clicks replicates standard mouse actions. Players can use two Joy-Con simultaneously in this mode—one per hand—or mix mouse and standard modes.

New details emerged via Nintendo Today's demo, shared on Twitter/X, demonstrating Home menu navigation with Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

"Placing the Joy-Con 2 attachment-side down surfaces activates an on-screen cursor," Nintendo clarified. "For cursor functionality, position the controller flat and slide it accordingly.

"Mouse mode allows menu scrolling via thumbstick tilting," Nintendo added, "[functioning] across Home menus and supported software." Returning to thumbstick mode requires holding the Joy-Con 2 horizontally again.

While mouse-compatible game availability remains unconfirmed, Nintendo previewed the feature working with Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and wheelchair basketball title Drag x Drive.
