Overture DLC Not Linked to Lies of P's Final Cutscene Reveal, Director Confirms

by Emily May 12,2025

Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about the new mysteries it might unveil. However, during the Game Developers Conference last week, IGN discovered one mystery that Overture won't resolve: the enigmatic final cutscene from the base game.

For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the game concludes with a cutscene that hints at future directions for the Lies of P universe. This scene has sparked intense speculation among fans about its implications and whether it would be addressed in the DLC. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has clarified that this particular cutscene is not connected to Overture. Choi cryptically added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

With Neowiz already confirming a full sequel to Lies of P, it's likely that the mysterious cutscene is a tease for Lies of P 2. Yet, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

Play The cutscene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As [detailed in our previous coverage](#), the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intention to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, suggesting that future *Lies of P* narratives might intertwine with other public domain fairy tales. However, how and why this connection will be made remains unclear, and we now know it won't be explored in *Overture*.

SPOILERS END HERE.

Play While *Overture* won't delve into the Dorothy mystery, Choi did offer some tantalizing hints about what players can expect. He encouraged fans to replay the base game, pointing out that it contains numerous clues about the upcoming DLC: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi said. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."

Choi also revealed that some fans are already on the right track with their theories, noting that he regularly reads online discussions and finds some fan speculations "quite close."

Additionally, Choi shared some practical details about Overture: it should take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete and will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the base game, remaining available until the game's end. As announced previously, Overture serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. The DLC will introduce new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi was careful to keep the specifics under wraps for the release.
