Pokémon UNITE continues expanding its roster, with Empoleon officially joining in September. Several other Pokémon will follow suit, introducing water-type abilities and legendary mons that promise to shake up the meta.
This versatile All-Rounder launches on September 19th, having first appeared in teasers during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships. The purple background in its reveal hinted at its All-Rounder classification.
As an Emperor-class Pokémon, Empoleon boasts Torrent abilities and maintains balanced stats reminiscent of Scarlet and Violet – particularly elevated Special Attack and Special Defense. Watch the official announcement here:

Dhelmise and Vaporeon will also join the battle arena, though their release dates remain under wraps. While specific abilities haven't been disclosed, both promise to introduce new tactical dimensions.
Before Empoleon's debut, another update arrives on September 4th featuring Groudon as a formidable neutral boss at Theia Sky Ruins. Defeating this powerhouse grants significant attack boosts and accelerated goal scoring, with buffs transferring to whichever team secures the final hit.
Don't forget Pokémon UNITE's ongoing 4th Anniversary event, offering Latias as a playable character. Completing anniversary missions earns Latias' Unite license before the September 4th deadline – available now on Google Play.
