Rocksteady Studios, the creators of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.
The studio faced significant hurdles in 2024, struggling to maintain Suicide Squad despite its poor reception. Warner Bros. reported approximately $200 million in losses from the project. Consequently, no further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced layoffs, shedding 99 employees in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major story spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints led to a massive surge in refund requests—a 791% increase, according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
