Samsung is set to unveil an updated smartphone portfolio on Wednesday, July 9th, at 10 AM ET / 7 AM PT, and all eyes are on its next generation of foldable devices. If rumors are accurate, the star of the show will be a refreshed lineup of foldables packed with the latest Galaxy AI features—because what would a major tech launch be without a healthy dose of artificial intelligence?
You can watch the event live on YouTube or stream it directly through Samsung’s newsroom. And if you're already sold, Samsung is offering the option to reserve upcoming devices ahead of release—just in case you don’t want to miss out.
This month marks Samsung’s seventh generation of folding smartphones, and expectations are high. The company is expected to launch three or possibly four new foldables: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the budget-friendly Z Flip 7 FE, along with new Galaxy Watches. There’s also buzz about a potential sneak peek at a groundbreaking dual-hinged foldable—a first for the Galaxy lineup.
The most significant upgrade is likely coming to the Z Fold 7, which may debut under the name Galaxy Z Fold Ultra. According to Roland Quandt, a well-known leaker, he recently shared what appear to be official marketing materials revealing key specs. The device is said to feature a 6.5-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner screen when unfolded. More impressively, it’s shaping up to be Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet, measuring just 4.2mm when open and 8.9mm when closed—a notable improvement over the Z Fold 6’s 5.6mm and 12.1mm, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Z Flip 7 is also getting a major refresh. Its external display is expanding to 4 inches, now covering nearly the entire top panel—minus the cutouts for the camera and flash. Internally, the screen is growing to 6.9 inches, up from 6.7 inches in the previous model. While rumors suggest the device has also been slimmed down, leaked images from Sammobile make it difficult to confirm just how much thinner it’s become.
Adding to the excitement, Samsung is reportedly launching the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, marking the first time a clamshell foldable enters the FE (Fan Edition) lineup. Based on marketing materials shared by Quandt, the Flip 7 FE will come in black and white and mirror the design and specs of the Z Fold 6, a device that earned praise—including from IGN’s Jacqueline Thomas, who was notably impressed in her review.
And then there’s the wildcard: a mysterious dual-hinged foldable. Last week, Android Authority discovered animation files within Samsung’s One UI 8 software that appear to reference a device codenamed “Multifold7”. It could eventually be branded as the Galaxy G Fold. However, don’t expect an immediate release. Like past concept devices such as the Galaxy Ring or Galaxy Edge, Samsung may choose to tease the device briefly or display it as a hands-off prototype—more vision than product, for now.
