"Stellar Blade Surges on Steam: Sony's Biggest PC Launch Yet"

by Violet Jul 24,2025

The PC version of Stellar Blade launched just yesterday, June 11, and has already made history as Sony’s biggest single-player release on Steam.

Currently, the game boasts a concurrent player peak of nearly 105,000—though that number has already been surpassed six times since this article began. With the weekend approaching, it's highly likely these figures will keep climbing.

For context, Ghost of Tsushima reached a peak of 77,154 players, God of War hit 73,529, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered topped out at 66,436. Among Sony-published titles, the only game with a higher concurrent player count than Stellar Blade is Helldivers 2—a multiplayer title, which puts Stellar Blade's achievement into even sharper perspective.

Play The PC release comes packed with a range of enhancements, including AI upscaling support via Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3, an unlocked framerate, Japanese and Chinese voiceover options, ultrawide display compatibility, improved environment textures, and full DualSense integration for haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects.

Initially restricted in over 100 countries, the PC version is now available in "over 250 regions," significantly expanding its global reach. The community has also embraced modding—dozens of mods have already emerged since the demo dropped weeks ago, introducing various gameplay tweaks, visual upgrades, and more. (Note: Not all are workplace-safe.)

The game’s strong performance has already secured a sequel. Developed by Shift Up and published by Sony, Stellar Blade launched in April 2024 to generally positive reviews, praised for blending combat mechanics reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

[ttpp]IGN's Stellar Blade review[/ttpp] scored it a 7/10, stating: "Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre."
