If you're a long-time mobile gamer, you might remember the delightful retro-styled Metroidvania that was released around a decade ago called Tiny Dangerous Dungeons. Well, get ready for a nostalgic trip because Tiny Dangerous Dungeons is making a comeback with a remake, and it's set to arrive on March 7th. Surprise!
Don't worry if you're already feeling that nostalgic itch; you won't have to wait long. Tiny Dangerous Dungeons Remake will be available for iOS and Android on March 7th. Pre-registration is open now, perfect for those of us who struggle to keep dates in our heads but want to enjoy this gem as soon as it drops.
Harry Slater reviewed the original back in 2015, giving it a 4-star rating. He praised it for feeling fresh while evoking the warm, fuzzy feelings that Game Boy fans still secretly crave. However, the remake introduces some notable changes. The sepia tones of the original have been replaced with a more vibrant, colorful look. While it retains its old-school charm, it's less reminiscent of the Game Boy specifically.
This change isn't a bad thing at all. Personally, I find the more colorful aesthetic more engaging while still giving me those nostalgic pangs. But the facelift isn't the only update. Developer Jussi Simpanen has also introduced a completely new soundtrack and improved the physics, addressing some of the minor issues Harry Slater mentioned in his review of the original. Moreover, there's new content to explore, with the titular dungeon now twice as large as before and featuring five additional bosses. Expect a few new secrets too, though the developer is keeping those under wraps for now.
Tiny Dangerous Dungeons Remake is available for pre-order on the App Store and Google Play ahead of its upcoming March 7th launch. It will be a premium experience priced at $3.99 or your local equivalent. You can pre-register on your preferred platform using the buttons below.
