Top Jedi Survivors of Order 66 Ranked

by Matthew May 28,2025

This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the concluding chapter in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the final Star Wars film directed by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney seven years later.

Fans eagerly anticipated Revenge of the Sith as it promised to depict Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader. A key mystery was the fate of the other Jedi, which was answered by Order 66. This was a sinister element of Palpatine's scheme, where Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars, suddenly turned against them and carried out their execution. Given the thousands of Jedi in service at the time, it was plausible that some would evade Palpatine's grasp—not just the few we knew had to survive for the Original Trilogy.

Among the few dozen Order 66 survivors introduced in canon Star Wars stories, we've ranked the top 10 who've left a significant mark. Some survived only briefly after the order, while others persisted much longer into the timeline, with a few whose fates remain undisclosed. Regardless, each of these Jedi lived to see another day after Palpatine's decree of "Execute Order 66."

For clarity, the criteria for inclusion on this list require that the characters were part of the Jedi Order before Order 66, ranging from Padawan to Jedi Master, including Jedi Initiates. This excludes Force-users like Maul or Palpatine, and those like Jod Na Nawood, who, despite receiving some Jedi training, were never officially part of the Order or set foot in the Jedi Temple.

A notable case is Asajj Ventress, who trained under Jedi Ky Narec on Rattatak for over 20 years. Although Ky Narec considered her his Padawan, Ventress never visited Coruscant or met the Jedi Council or other Jedi before Narec's death. Her subsequent alignment with the Dark Side under Dooku complicates her status. Therefore, she's listed as an honorable mention.
