"Tribe Nine Axed Just Three Months Post-Launch"

by Blake May 28,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled. The game's end-of-service (EOS) has been announced, marking an abrupt end to its journey.

This acrimonious closure comes as a surprise, especially considering that just a couple of months ago, Tribe Nine celebrated over ten million downloads. The game, inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa's Rui Komatsuzaki, offered fans a mix of regular ARPG gameplay and unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles.

The unceremonious axing of Tribe Nine adds to a troubling trend over the last few years, where numerous titles have been cancelled within less than a year of their launch. For many fans, this recurring pattern can make it feel disheartening to invest time and emotion into new releases, given the looming threat of EOS.

ytTribelessGiven that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has been well-received in other titles like Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy-, the decision to cancel Tribe Nine seems perplexing. This move might backfire on developer Akatsuki Games, especially as they prepare to launch another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game. While they may be hoping to attract fans of the existing series, casual players might hesitate, wary of Akatsuki's track record. For Tribe Nine enthusiasts, it's undoubtedly a disappointing turn of events.

On a brighter note, there are still plenty of exciting new releases to explore. Why not check out our latest feature covering the top five new mobile games to try this week on mobile for some of our top picks?

In response to the closure, Akatsuki Games has announced that paid Enigma Entities will be refunded, and in-game purchases will be halted as the service winds down.
