Ubisoft's Recent Wins and Ongoing Challenges: An Update
Following up on our "How is Ubisoft today?" series, we have some positive news amidst ongoing challenges for the company's upper management. A significant compatibility issue has finally been resolved.
Ubisoft has successfully addressed compatibility problems between several Assassin's Creed titles and the Windows 11 24H2 update. Games like Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, among others, had been malfunctioning on Windows 11 since at least Fall 2024. The solution involved deploying new patches, announced on the Steam pages for Origins and Valhalla.
The positive response from gamers is significant, with many expressing relief and gratitude for the fix. The issue's root cause, being a Windows update rather than a game development flaw, has also contributed to a more positive reception. Despite this, user reviews for both games remain "Mixed."
Looking ahead, there's cautious optimism regarding Assassin's Creed Shadows. Its release, recently postponed to March 20th, aims to prioritize quality improvements, acknowledging the game's potential impact on the company's future.
