How To Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

While fishing isn't essential for main story progression, it provides a refreshing diversion with its own unique questline – ultimately granting the necessary equipment for this achievement.

First, players must advance through Kanya's fishing quests by gathering requested items:

Seeking the Goldenfish

Catch Goldenfish found in cave water pools, particularly in Scarlet Forest's Area 6. Use Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow bait, with Fallow weather offering the highest spawn rates.

Fishing for Favor

Next, catch the Gravid Bowfin near Scarlet Forest's base camp during Plenty weather using Emerald Jitterbait.

The Catch of a Lifetime!

Kanya then requests a Whopper – any fish large enough to trigger the reeling minigame. Tuna in Scarlet Forest's Area 17 lake make ideal targets.

After completing these, the Razzle Dazzle quest becomes available – your opportunity to earn the Monster (Squid) Hunter achievement:

  • Travel to Scarlet Forest's Area 17 during Downpour or Inclemency weather
  • Wade into the lake's deep end to spot squids (fast travel to respawn if needed)
  • Use Kanya's Tentacle Jig on glowing blue shells
  • During the reeling minigame, focus on the Goliath Squid (not the required Grand Escunite)
  • Persist until successfully landing the massive cephalopod

With these steps, you'll claim your hard-earned achievement. For more Monster Hunter Wilds content, explore The Escapist.
