This new Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 developer diary showcases exciting gameplay, focusing on the mechanics of maintaining the Masquerade. The game features a Masquerade meter, visually represented by an eye icon in the upper screen corner, which tracks the player's actions. This meter has three levels indicating the severity of Masquerade violations:
Green: Minor infractions, easily resolved by simply concealing your actions.
Yellow: Multiple violations, including feeding or using aggressive powers. This requires dealing with witnesses or evading the police.
Red: A complete breach of the Masquerade. The police are actively pursuing the player. Escape and concealment are crucial, as a full meter triggers Camarilla intervention. The video demonstrates this consequence.
Players can mitigate their "infamy" by making witnesses forget or, alternatively, eliminating them. For police encounters, discretion and evasion are key. The developers highlight that the risk of exposure escalates throughout the game, demanding swift and calculated actions to uphold the Masquerade.
