World of Warcraft Patch 11.1: Hunter Class Overhaul

Patch 11.1 of World of Warcraft, titled "Undermined," introduces significant changes to the Hunter class, impacting pet management, specialization abilities, and overall gameplay. Key changes include:

  • Pet Specialization Swapping: Hunters can now alter the specialization (Cunning, Ferocity, or Tenacity) of their pets at the stable using a dropdown menu. This allows for greater flexibility in pairing pets with desired combat styles.

  • Beast Mastery Single Pet Option: Beast Mastery Hunters can choose to utilize a single, more powerful pet, enhancing its damage and size.

  • Marksmanship Pet Removal: Marksmanship Hunters no longer use a pet. Instead, they are aided by a Spotting Eagle that marks targets for increased damage. This change has been met with mixed reactions from the player base.

  • Undermine Raid: Patch 11.1 introduces the Undermine storyline continuation and the Liberation of Undermine raid, culminating in a confrontation with Chrome King Gallywix.

Detailed Hunter Class Changes:

The patch includes numerous adjustments to Hunter abilities and talents across all three specializations:

Beast Mastery:

  • Solitary Companion (Talent): Allows for a single, significantly enhanced pet.
  • Significant buffs to Serpent Sting, Barrage, and Alpha Predator.
  • Removal of several talents, including Basilisk Collar and Venom's Bite. New talents introduced focus on area-of-effect damage and pet synergy.

Marksmanship:

  • Complete Rework: Eliminates the pet, replacing it with a Spotting Eagle that marks targets for increased damage from Aimed Shot.
  • Introduction of new abilities like Harrier's Cry (raid-wide haste buff) and Manhunter (Aimed Shot applies Grievous Injury).
  • Numerous new talents focused on maximizing Aimed Shot and utilizing the Spotting Eagle's marking mechanic. Removal of many previous talents, including Lone Wolf.

Survival:

  • Flanking Strike/Butchery Choice: These abilities are now mutually exclusive talent choices, streamlining the rotation.
  • New talents and adjustments to existing ones, including buffs to Kill Shot and Bleed effects.
  • Removal of the Exposed Flank ability.

Pack Leader Talent Rework (All Specializations):

The Pack Leader talent is completely overhauled. It now summons a Bear, Wyvern, and Boar simultaneously, each with unique effects. New talents offer variations on this mechanic, including choices for different pet combinations and additional bonuses.

Player Feedback:

Blizzard is actively seeking player feedback on the PTR (Public Test Realm) before the official release of Patch 11.1, anticipated for February. The community's response will be crucial in shaping the final version of these changes.
