Next Witcher Game: Unveiling Details

The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the acclaimed release of The Witcher 3, the first trailer for The Witcher 4 has dropped, introducing Ciri as the new protagonist.

As fans will remember, Ciri is Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluding, the spotlight shifts to the next generation. The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by superstitious fear, where a young woman is about to be sacrificed to a monster. Ciri's intervention reveals a far more complex situation than initially apparent.

While no official release date exists, considering the development times of The Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for The Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.

Platform announcements are pending, but given the projected timeline, a current-generation console exclusive release is likely. However, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC releases are anticipated. A Switch port, unlike The Witcher 3, seems improbable, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.

Though gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements: potions, Signs, and combat. A new addition may be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.

Voice actor Doug Cockle has confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role, further fueling speculation about a mentorship dynamic.
