طرنيب Tarneeb

Tarneeb, a popular card game in Arab countries, particularly in the Levant, is also known as "rule" in the Arab Gulf states. The objective is to win consecutive Tarneeb rounds, played by four players divided into two teams, with partners sitting opposite each other. The game continues until one team emerges victorious at the end of the rounds.

The game uses a standard 52-card deck, excluding Jokers. Play begins with the player to the left of the dealer. The dealer distributes the cards starting from the player to their right. Bidding starts from the player to the dealer's right and continues in a clockwise direction. Bids can range from 7 to 13, known as "Cabot" or "livers." The highest bidder chooses the Tarneeb suit.

If a team fails to meet their bid, they lose points equal to the difference between their bid and the number of tricks they won. For example, if a team bids 10 but only wins 9 tricks, they lose 1 point, while the opposing team gains points for the tricks they won, say 4 points in this case. If the opposing team wins 5 tricks, any discrepancies in the bidding are revealed.

The game concludes when one team reaches either 61 or 31 points, depending on the agreement made before the start of the game.

• Ace (Cut)
• King (Sheikh)
• Queen (Girl)
• Jack (Born)
• Followed by 10 down to 2 in descending order.
