Sony has detailed the PC specifications for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, along with PSN sign-in rewards and upcoming content for the No Return mode on both PC and PlayStation 5.

In a PlayStation Blog update, developer Naughty Dog highlighted the features implemented for the PC edition by support studios Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy. This version launches one year after the PlayStation 5 release.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC Features:

Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support
AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation
VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate setting
DirectStorage support
Adjustable Texture Quality
LOD Distance Range
Volumetric Quality
Shadow Quality
Ambient Occlusion
Reflections Quality

The game also supports ultrawide monitors, enabling gameplay in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and 48:9 resolutions with triple-monitor compatibility.

As expected, it supports 4K resolution, works with various controllers and keyboard/mouse inputs, and features 3D audio.

Keyboard and mouse controls offer extensive customization, including full remapping, primary and secondary bindings, and an adaptive mode that lets players mix keyboard and controller inputs. Full gamepad support is included, with DualSense controllers providing complete haptic feedback.

“The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC provides a broad spectrum of graphics settings and presets to deliver the optimal experience on hardware ranging from high-end PCs to handheld gaming devices,” Sony stated.

For the No Return mode, two new characters are joining the roster: Bill and Marlene from The Last of Us Part I.

Here’s the official description from Sony:

As with all No Return combatants, these characters have distinct playstyles, offering both newcomers and veterans fresh challenges. Bill uses a “Smuggler” style, accessing a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and earning double rewards from them. He has increased resistance to melee attacks but cannot dodge. Marlene employs a “Risk Taker” style, wielding a Custom Assault Rifle and utilizing “All or Nothing” gambits. She can also reroute her No Return path once per run, among other abilities.

Four new maps are also being added to No Return.

Overlook, situated high above Seattle with significant verticality, is the memorable site of a Seraphites encounter in the campaign. School is the abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina confront the W.L.F. Streets takes place in the overgrown Seattle neighborhood of Hillcrest, while Nest will be familiar to players who controlled Abby in an Infested building. The team has been thrilled with the positive reception to this mode since Part II Remastered launched on PS5 last year, and we hope these new maps provide greater variety and excitement for players embarking on new runs.

All the new No Return content, accompanying Trophies, and additional bug fixes will be available on PS5 via a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch, launching simultaneously with the PC version, Sony added.

Aligning with Sony's recent reversal on PlayStation Network requirements, The Last of Us 2 Remastered on PC features an optional PSN log-in. Logging in grants access to the PlayStation overlay and PSN Trophies. As an extra incentive, Sony confirmed that players who sign in with their PSN account receive 50 in-game points to activate bonus features, plus a new skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun’s jacket from Naughty Dog’s upcoming PS5 title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Sony clarified that PS5 players can also unlock Jordan's jacket skin. It is included in the 2.0 patch and can be unlocked using in-game bonus points.

Earlier this month, The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann shared further insights into Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. In an interview with Alex Garland, writer of the zombie film 28 Days Later, Druckmann openly discussed the development process, confirming the project has been in development for four years.

"I often joke with the team. We made The Last of Us Part II, and certain creative decisions attracted a lot of criticism. Many people loved it, but many also disliked the game," Druckmann said. Garland quipped in response, "Who gives a shit?"

"Exactly," Druckmann continued. "The joke is, let's make something people might not feel as strongly about—let's create a game centered on faith and religion."

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, starring Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun, is set in an alternate historical timeline and revolves around a "prominent religion" that has "evolved, been distorted, and changed over the years," according to Druckmann.

The PC version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered launches ahead of Season 2 of HBO's acclaimed TV adaptation. Showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed that "spores are back" after being omitted from Season 1.
