Batman, Deadpool in Historic Marvel-DC Crossover

by Alexis Nov 28,2025

The historic rivalry between Marvel and DC is taking a brief hiatus as the publishers announce their first major crossover comics since 2003's JLA/Avengers. Surprisingly, the unlikely pairing of Batman and Deadpool will headline this unprecedented collaboration.

As Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed, Marvel and DC are co-producing two special one-shot issues. Marvel will release Deadpool/Batman #1, written by Zeb Wells (The Amazing Spider-Man) with art by Greg Capullo (Batman), while DC counters with Batman/Deadpool #1 from legendary writer Grant Morrison (Batman) and artist Dan Mora (Superman/Batman: World's Finest). Each issue will include bonus stories featuring additional Marvel and DC characters.

This marks the first official Marvel/DC crossover in over twenty years, not counting video game appearances like Fortnite's Omniverse. The publishers previously collaborated on iconic crossovers beginning with 1976's Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man.

"These events occur roughly once per generation of readers," DC's Jim Lee told EW. "The timing must be perfect - we want these collaborations to feel special. Coordinating between companies requires extensive planning, but when the right creative opportunity arises, it justifies the effort."

When asked why Batman and Deadpool were chosen as the crossover ambassadors, Marvel's Dan Buckley explained: "The pairing just felt right - the ultimate straight man meets the antihero who breaks the fourth wall. We anticipate hilarious chaos balanced with intense action. Our goal is to create fun, exciting comics that bring new and returning readers to stores."

Deadpool/Batman #1 hits shelves September 17, 2025, followed by Batman/Deadpool #1 in November. The publishers have already confirmed additional crossover one-shots planned for 2026, though the featured characters remain classified.
