The upcoming reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia directed and written by Greta Gerwig, fresh off the success of the Barbie movie, has added acclaimed actress Carey Mulligan to its ensemble cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan will join forces with former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Sex Education's Emma Mackey, and Hollywood icon Meryl Streep in this new adaptation.

Gerwig, who will helm and script this fresh take on C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series, is set to adapt The Magician's Nephew, the prequel to the iconic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This film will delve into the origins of Narnia, exploring events that precede the well-known Narnian tales.

In the movie, Mulligan is slated to portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of the story's young protagonist, Digory. Daniel Craig will step into the role of the titular magician and Digory's uncle. Emma Mackey will bring to life a younger version of the notorious White Witch, while Meryl Streep will lend her voice to the majestic and divine lion, Aslan.

This isn't the first time Narnia has been brought to the silver screen. A previous trilogy released between 2005 and 2010 covered the first three books of the series: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Those films starred Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Gerwig's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew marks her first major endeavor since the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Barbie movie in 2023, which garnered eight Academy Award nominations and secured a win for Best Original Song.

Anticipation is building as The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is slated for release in 2026, promising a captivating new journey into the world of Narnia.
