Dune Awakening's Recent Update Creates Predicament

Compensation for Lost Bases and Equipment

Funcom, the developer of Dune Awakening, has assured players that they will restore lost bases and equipment following the latest update. In a July 9 post on X (formerly Twitter), the developers confirmed they are actively working to resolve the problem and provided further details on their official website.

The recent patch, deployed on July 7, introduced modifications to the Deep Desert's layout. This unintentionally enabled PvP combat within what was previously a PvE-only zone. The update also resulted in the loss of numerous bases and gear, leaving many players surprised and frustrated.

Funcom explained that this alteration was originally scheduled for the next Coriolis Cycle and apologized for the disruption. They announced, "We are striving to compensate affected players for their vehicles and items to the best of our capability. The restored materials, items, and vehicle components will appear in the game's 'Claim Rewards' section by the end of this week."

The development team also mentioned they are enhancing their internal tools to improve the restoration process, but requested patience due to a backlog of support tickets. "Our goal is to address support requests as rapidly as possible, including tickets that were closed around the game's launch when we couldn't properly compensate players," the statement continued.

Players who have lost vehicles due to bugs can submit an in-game support ticket, detailing the vehicle type, tier, and circumstances of the loss. Funcom clarified, "The development team is simultaneously working to eliminate the underlying causes of item disappearance. We have a specialized team focused on preventing vehicle and item loss during server crashes, disconnections, server transfers, and map transitions."

Despite these challenges, the game maintains player support with "Mostly Positive" reviews on Steam. Here at Game8, we awarded Dune Awakening a score of 74/100 for its comprehensive survival mechanics and expansive open-world gameplay. However, areas like melee combat, performance optimization, and server stability still require improvement. For our complete evaluation, explore our detailed review below!
