FromSoftware Completes Elden Ring Matchmaking Server Maintenance

by Amelia Nov 22,2025

FromSoftware has completed another round of server maintenance for Elden Ring Nightreign, focusing on matchmaking improvements.

At launch, the developer recognized ongoing matchmaking problems and provided guidance to impacted players, recommending steps like restarting matchmaking and verifying NAT type on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles.

Following server maintenance on June 6 intended to "enhance expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance," online features are back, and the community anticipates a smoother experience.

"Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers," FromSoftware stated. "Limveld awaits."

Even with these challenges, Elden Ring Nightreign sold 3.5 million copies in its first five days. While the original Elden Ring was a global phenomenon, achieving 30 million sales since its 2022 launch, Nightreign is not expected to reach those heights. For comparison, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies in just three days after its 2024 release.

Nightreign's Steam user reviews have also improved, moving from 'Mixed' to 'Mostly Positive.' Early criticism often cited the punishing solo gameplay, absence of duo co-op, no voice chat, and other outdated systems.

However, FromSoftware issued a patch on Monday to make single-player more accessible and has officially confirmed a Duos mode is in development.

So, what's next? FromSoftware also announced that, alongside DLC slated for later this year, new content will be "rolled out progressively." This includes upgraded battles against current Nightlords, starting this month.

Earlier this week, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign shared that he defeated every boss solo without using Relics, assuring players that experiencing all the content is "very achievable."
