FBI Shuts Down Major Nintendo Switch Piracy Site

by Ellie Oct 23,2025

The FBI has successfully shut down NSW2U.com, a major piracy hub distributing illegal Nintendo Switch game copies.

The notorious website now displays only an FBI seizure notice where pirated content once appeared, confirming federal authorities have taken control of the domain.

This crackdown represents Nintendo's latest victory in its ongoing anti-piracy campaign, following the company's recent decision to permanently disable ("brick") Switch 2 consoles modified with piracy-enabling flash cartridges.

The FBI notice states: "This domain has been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation pursuant to a warrant issued under 18 U.S.C. 2323 by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia." The message acknowledges cooperation with FIOD, a Dutch financial crimes investigation service, indicating the site's international operations.

European regulators had previously blocked NSW2U.com after its May 2024 addition to an EU piracy blacklist. With this latest action, the site appears permanently eliminated.

IGN has reached out to Nintendo regarding potential legal actions against the site's operators.

Nintendo maintains an aggressive stance against piracy, historically pursuing substantial fines and criminal charges against perpetrators. However, its new tactic of disabling entire Switch 2 consoles has drawn criticism regarding its effect on secondary market buyers and prompted legal scrutiny from Brazilian authorities questioning the measure's legality.
