Every Marvel TV Show in the Disney+ Era Ranked

by Hannah Feb 20,2025

Marvel's small-screen adaptations have a rich history, from the classic "Incredible Hulk" to the Netflix series featuring Daredevil and Luke Cage. While previous attempts to integrate these shows into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) faltered (remember "Runaways" and "Cloak and Dagger"?), Marvel Studios launched a new era in 2021. This shift involved launching interconnected series exclusively on Disney+.

With "Spider-Man: Freshman Year" as the latest addition to the Disney+ Marvel lineup, we've ranked the previous 12 series. Our team of Marvel experts independently ranked each show, and this is the aggregated result. "Spider-Man: Freshman Year"'s ranking will be added after its conclusion.

  1. Secret Invasion

Disney+
Universally considered the weakest Marvel Disney+ series to date, "Secret Invasion" fell far short of expectations. Despite the source material's significance in Marvel Comics, the series lacked focus and direction. Director Ali Selim's admission of not reading the comics hampered the adaptation. While MCU adaptations often successfully reinterpret source material, "Secret Invasion" failed to deliver a compelling narrative, suffering from slow pacing, a poorly executed opening, the unnecessary death of a beloved character, and the introduction of a forgettable new character.

  1. Echo

Disney+
A significant improvement over "Secret Invasion," "Echo" still ranks lower due to its shortcomings. Alaqua Cox's return as Echo delivers an action-packed story, exploring her life on the reservation and her complex relationships. However, a shortened episode count left some viewers unsatisfied. Despite this, the series features impressive action sequences, notably a fight against Daredevil. Its groundbreaking representation of Indigenous creatives both on and off-screen is a notable achievement.

  1. Moon Knight

Disney+
Starring Oscar Isaac, "Moon Knight's" lower ranking is surprising to some. The series explores Marc Spector's multiple personalities, delivering a dark and surreal narrative. Blending elements of various films and shows, it introduces Scarlet Scarab as a standout character. Despite a strong cast including F. Murray Abraham and Ethan Hawke, it failed to resonate strongly enough with viewers to secure a higher ranking or a second season.

  1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney+
Despite the strong chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" fell short of expectations. Murky moral dilemmas, heavy reliance on the Blip storyline, and a focus on espionage over action hindered its success. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted production, potentially affecting the final product. Nevertheless, the series' narrative elements have become crucial to understanding the current MCU, particularly the "Thunderbolts" film.
