Monster Hunter Wilds Loses Players as MH World Rises

Monster Hunter Wilds Player Count Decline Brings It Closer to MH World Numbers

Monster Hunter Wilds sees its player base shrinking, nearing MH World's numbers. Discover why MH Wilds is losing players and details about its first major crossover event.

Monster Hunter Wilds Experiences Significant Player Decline

From Record Heights to Modest Numbers

Comparative Player Counts Between MH Wilds and MH World

Despite launching as Capcom's fastest-selling title this year, Monster Hunter Wilds has seen its concurrent player count plummet dramatically three months post-release.

As reported by Monster Hunter content creator Zenny, player numbers have halved since May, now closely matching MH World's current figures. SteamDB data reveals MH Wilds' 24-hour peak at 41,101 players, nearly equal to MH World's 26,479 concurrent users.

The contrast becomes sharper when comparing both games' third-month performances: MH World maintained over 100,000 concurrent Steam players versus MH Wilds' approximate 40,000. This decline may stem from MH Wilds' limited endgame content despite Title Update 1. The upcoming Summer update might revitalize interest with fresh monsters and events.

Street Fighter Crossover Hints Emerge

A potential collaboration with Street Fighter could help reverse this trend. Monster Hunter's May 19 Twitter post featured Street Fighter 6-style paw print artwork, sparking speculation.

While unconfirmed, such a crossover wouldn't be unprecedented - MH World previously incorporated Street Fighter elements including Ryu/Sakura armor sets and special Hadoken emotes.

Potential MH Wilds Street Fighter Collaboration Preview

This would constitute MH Wilds' first major collaboration, following the series' history of crossovers with franchises like Devil May Cry, Sonic, Assassin's Creed, and Megaman.

With future updates planned throughout 2024, MH Wilds may yet regain its player base momentum. The game remains available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
